A 13-year-old Neshoba County boy was seriously injured when a man fleeing police crashed a vehicle through a house.Cullen McCoy was in his room on his computer Wednesday night when the car ran into the house and out the back of it, authorities said. Cullen was thrown into the backyard and suffered multiple internal injuries, according to his family. He was taken to Children’s Hospital in Jackson, where he underwent what his family said was a lifesaving five-hour surgery, family members said in social media posts.Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said the incident began about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday with a traffic stop on Beacon Street. The driver took off and the deputy followed until he lost sight of the vehicle, Clark said. “When the deputy reached the end of Poplar at the intersection of Line Street, he observed the Ford Explorer embedded in a home near the intersection,” Clark said in a statement.Howard, 29, was arrested after he ran from the scene and hid in the woods behind a church, Clark said. Howard faces a list of felony and misdemeanor charges, including fleeing, leaving the scene of an accident and possession of a controlled substance, authorities said. Howard also is wanted on a felony warrant out of New Mexico, the sheriff said.Clark told the Neshoba Democrat that Howard, who is suspected of having been under the influence at the time of the crash, could face additional charges.
