Exciting news for Small Businesses seeking research partnerships for SBIR/STTR proposals! The MSU-Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (CAVS) and the Office of Technology Management are hosting an SBIR/STTR Pitch Competition where research teams can win cash prizes for SBIR/STTR proposal assistance. Research teams will pitch solutions that fit current solicitations and plans to develop a winning proposal. Additional funding may be available to the winning team. If you are a small business looking to partner on research for DOD SBIRs/STTRs, please contact Tasha Bibb.

The competition is open to MSU research teams and their small business partners who are conducting research that aligns with a current Department of Defense (DOD) SBIR/STTR topic or solicitation. To apply, submit a one-page summary outlining how your research fits a DOD solicitation, potential partners, and your research’s feasibility and commercial potential.

Winners of the competition will receive $2,000 in funding towards completing and submitting a proposal for an SBIR/STTR award. The deadline to submit your summary is February 3, 2023. Selected participants will be invited to pitch their plan on February 10, 2023, at CAVS. Pitches will be 5-minutes long and will be evaluated based on the fit with the DOD solicitation, proposed partnerships, commercial potential, technical feasibility, and likelihood of submitting a proposal.

The winners will have access to on-demand training and an expert to assist with their proposal submission process. Note: DOD SBIR/STTR proposals are due on March 8, 2023. Be sure to check out the listed deadlines and solicitations at https://www.sbir.gov/solicitations/open/doddodsbirsttr.mil, and defensesbirsttr.mil.
