A man is now behind bars for the March fatal shooting of a beloved performer in the parking garage at Caesars Southern Indiana casino.
Antwaun Proctor, 20, was booked on murder, robbery, criminal mischief, auto theft, and obstruction of justice charges.
As of Saturday, he was being held without bail in Indiana’s Harrison County jail.
On March 17, Proctor and a second suspect followed the targeted victim as he drove a Dodge Charger from Kentucky into the Elizabeth, Ind.’s gaming property’s garage.
The Dodge pulled into a parking space. LilDon Williams, 32, of Louisville, Ky. exited the car. He joined relatives and some friends as they went into the casino.
Proctor and the other suspect waited about three hours for Williams to return, according to Kentucky TV station WHAS. He approached his car alone.
Proctor and a second man, both wearing masks, came close to the Dodge. Both were armed with assault rifles, police said.
Williams tried to escape. But both suspects repeatedly fired shots at him, police said. He was critically wounded and passed away at the crime scene.
Execution-Style Murder
I would describe it as an execution. This was a man caught on camera, running for his life and ultimately succumbing to gunfire,” Harrison County Prosecutor Otto Schalk recently was quoted by Indiana TV station WLKY.
One of the suspects fled in the victim’s Charger. The other drove away in a Malibu, owned by Proctor’s relative.
Police officers were able to identify Proctor as a suspect in the case after checking casino surveillance cameras, traffic cameras, and cell phone records, according to WHAS.
A judge approved an arrest warrant for Proctor. He was apprehended on April 24. News of his arrest was reported on Friday.
Second Suspect At Large
Police are still searching for the second suspect. Authorities haven’t revealed if they know the second man’s identity.
Williams was a hip-hop performer and also had a full-time job at a Ford plant, according to media reports. He was one of several performers at a Louisville concert held at an unspecified venue hours before the deadly incident.
Williams had been tailed by the suspects for about 14 miles, according to Harrison County Sheriff Nick Smith.
The victim was “targeted, hunted down, and executed” by the suspects, Smith has revealed.
Williams is survived by his wife and a six-year-old daughter.
He was a good man and a good dad,” Williams’ wife, Rannisha, was quoted by Kentucky TV station WDRB shortly after the killing. “He didn’t deserve this.”
