Airport, roads expected to be busy over the holiday weekend

The airports and roads are expected to be especially busy over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport is working around the clock for what they say is one of the busiest times of the year. Airport officials encourage travelers to arrive two hours before their flight leaves. Not only is Memorial Day around the corner, but many people are flying in to attend graduations.AAA projects 43.8 million travelers will head 50 miles or more from home over the Memorial Day holiday travel period across the nation. This comes close to the 2005 record of 44 million. The Mississippi Highway Patrol started monitoring the highways Friday morning. Trooper Darnika Mayfield said they see a major increase in DUIs and crashes around this time of the year and are trying to lower the numbers from last year.Mayfield gave tips for the weekend. No drinking and driving, wear seatbelts and drive the speed limit to ensure safety.
