CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Austin Peay athletic trainer Isaac Horsch has made the move to Starkville, Mississippi, to work under Mike Leach and Mississippi State football.

Horsch began his career at Austin Peay by becoming an intern athletic trainer in 2020. After one year working for the school’s athletic department, he was promoted to the position of graduate assistant athletic trainer. Horsch helped oversee sports such as football, cross country and track.

“There was a lot of growth throughout my time working for APSU,” said Horsch. “This was my first true experience of being on my own as an athletic trainer. This enabled me to build my confidence and decision making. The quality relationships I built with other staff members, coaches and student-athletes also made this a special experience.”

Horsch has vast experience as an athletic trainer outside of Austin Peay. Most notably, he worked as an intern athletic trainer with Texas A&M and Mississippi State. Also, he had worked for a professional football league known as The Spring League in Indianapolis.

“Being able to get the call back from Mississippi State athletics is super rewarding,” said Horsch. “The call back means I executed my job during my tenure with the school, so it definitely means a lot to me. I look forward to returning to the SEC and continuing to work with Division-I athletes.”

Clarksville Now asked Horsch what’s his message to aspiring athletic trainers in the Montgomery County area. He said, “Always be kind and respectful to anyone you come into contact with. Know that you are making a difference in people’s lives and that you really do have one of the best jobs in the world.”
