Below average temperatures return for the weekend, clouds decrease

16 WAPT’s Christana Kay Meteorologist has the latest forecast for Jackson and Central Mississippi.

happy saturday everybody, we have cool air on the way, not as chilly as web parts of Nebraska as far east as main woke up to this morning temperatures feeling below freezing at seven o’clock back off towards ST louis Indianapolis and even Lexington, we have frost advisories, freeze watches and warnings well off towards the north. The good news is we are not expecting to get any of this. However, that cool air is still going to infiltrate the region later on today, just not as chilly. Wake up temperatures around seven o’clock this morning. Now in the fifties and Carthage Kazi esko Belzoni is 63 degrees in Jackson and 64 mccomb, it is possible we could continue to see these temperatures go down *** little bit until around the eight o’clock timeframe. Then we’ll actually start to see those temperatures go on up winds are going to be picking up through the day today, gust up to around 15 miles an hour in spots so that in addition to the very dry air raids into that wildfire threat today through tomorrow for all of central Mississippi. So lots of sunshine expected today. We already have those clouds clearing on out this morning. That’s going to continue through the afternoon and evening hours temperature wise, we warm up into the upper seventies, low eighties later on this afternoon. So just lightly shy of seasonal for this time of year and again the wind and even in the sunshine, gonna feel nice outside but that wind picking up may feel *** little bit on the cooler note at times tonight temperatures turn chilly, especially north of I 20 upper forties 50 Deon Jackson, possibly Jackson getting into the upper forties tomorrow morning. Not completely ruled out. And then down in south Mississippi continuing to see the low fifties in the morning hours highs in the afternoon for seventies to low eighties for the majority of the region. Mid seventies possible off towards our far eastern counties. Again, lots of sunshine, very little cloud covered this weekend, but we do have *** change on the way as we go into next week. More on that in just *** second. As of the seven o’clock advisory, tropical storm Julia making its way into the far southwestern part of the caribbean max was sustained winds at 60 miles an hour. This is expecting to make *** landfall possibly as *** category one hurricane by the end of the day tomorrow over into Nicaragua. So that tropical moisture could possibly even make its way into the gulf of Mexico. I don’t think this thing is going to regenerate. However, it is possible some of that tropical moisture could aid into some rain possibilities by the end of the day, on Wednesday, ahead of our next cold front. This is going to swing through overnight Wednesday into thursday providing the chance for some heavy rain and thunderstorm activity. We need the rain. Yes, for the entire year, we’re still well above average. However, for the fall season we’re well over three inches of *** deficit. So we do need the rain that seven day forecast looking nice. With the rain chances increasing overnight, Wednesday to thursday. After that cold front moves through, we turn chilly once again in the morning, forties and fifties and then highs in the afternoon, friday, mid seventies.
