Skyrim is home to some of the most iconic characters in the gaming sphere, and these skillful fans have brought them to life in impressive cosplays.
Even though The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim was released over ten years ago, the game is full of memorable characters that live on in the hearts of players and are often brought to life by talented cosplayers. Recreating characters from any fictional universe is difficult, and it takes an unprecedented amount of dedication, but Skyrim‘s characters are likely one of the trickier ones to pull off. While the game’s inhabitants had the help of the Skyforge to help them create Nordic armor and weapons, real-life cosplayers don’t exactly have that luxury.
Despite its age, Skyrim’s community is clearly still alive and kicking. Fan-made mods have added fresh content for years, and Skyrim Anniversary Edition takes a long time to beat, with hours of additional gameplay for even the most seasoned Dragonborn. However, skillful individuals have gone above and beyond to showcase their love for the game, and they prove just how large and long-lasting of an impact Skyrim has had on them.
kaolinitedreams Nails Aela The Huntress from Skyrim
Aela the Huntress is one of the first characters that the player will meet in Skyrim, but she’s far from forgettable – and kaolinitedreams on Reddit perfectly recreates the look of this skilled Companion without so much as a hair out of place. Between the weathered look of the iron, the precise placement of studs and other decals, and the game-accurate recreation of the armor’s intricate etchings, it looks like Aela was plucked straight out of Skyrim. Meanwhile, the saturated filter and the mountainous backdrop bring the cosplay an air of realism, and kaolinitedream’s serious expression brings out Aela’s feisty personality.
CunningWulf Brings A Skyrim Redguard To Life
With Elder Scrolls 6 rumored to be in Hammerfell, much of the Skyrim community’s attention has turned to the lands’ locals, the Redguards. These folk are some of the fiercest warriors in all of Tamriel, and cosplayer CunningWulf on Reddit shows just how awesome they would look fully fleshed-out in TES 6. The look is full of character, and it almost tells a story in and of itself with the tattered cloak, smeared war paint, and the small rips and stains in the red garb. Their utility belt is full of chock-full of adventuring supplies, and their shining gold jewelry portrays the success of this Redguard OC’s mercenary endeavors.
falconess_ Becomes Skyrim’s Dragonborn
Anyone who has played Skyrim will share a close connection to the Dragonborn, but cosplayer falconess_ on Instagram takes her love for the player character to another level. This amazing depiction paints them as a traditional Nord, wearing the iconic horned iron helmet seen on the cover of each separate version of Skyrim. The hide armor set, complete with plush fur and weathered leather, is a faithful recreation, and falconess_ even wields an axe to give the Dovahkiin an appropriate tinge of danger. Their confident posture makes them look excited to “Fus Ro Dah” their unlucky opponent into submission.
WhiteDemon19 Replicates The Look Of A Skyrim Dunmer
Dunmer are some of the most overlooked characters in Skyrim, but WhiteDemon19 on Reddit gives them the love they deserve with this impressive cosplay. The gritty texture of the layered armor almost looks too real to be fake, and the craftsmanship of the shield can’t go unnoticed with its unique, dragon-like shape and intricate design. The blood-red eyes and ashen skin tone are consistent with the Dunmer of Skyrim, and WhiteDemon19’s wistful gaze over the camera reflects the somber mood that many dark elves share across the events of the game. Even the background is an accurate portrayal of Solstheim.
valtirdesigns Embodies Cicero From Skyrim
An easily missed Skyrim quest paints Cicero in a negative light, whereas cosplayer valtirdesigns on Instagram paints him rather accurately. This talented cosplayer takes advantage of face paint to recreate Cicero’s jester-like look to perfection with mischievous, exaggerated eyebrows – and a healthy amount of dirt and grime, which could only be expected of the Night Mother’s overly devoted caretaker. Their outfit might as well be a real-life replica of Cicero’s outfit in Skyrim, from the gold details to the charm hanging from their belt, and their wistful expression juxtaposed with the hand on their dagger is a hilarious nod to the clown’s traitorous personality.
_aprilgloria Recreates Skyrim’s Serana Perfectly
Hailing from the Dawnguard DLC, Serana is Skyrim‘s most beloved vampire, and _aprilgloria on Instagram brings this immortal royalty to life in a gorgeous cosplay. Staying true to Serana’s character, her glowing yellow eyes gaze into the camera lifelessly, and she wears the iconic hood to protect her skin from burning in direct sunlight: one of the cons of becoming a vampire in Skyrim. But perhaps the most impressive part of this look is the life-sized Elder Scroll, which _aprilgloria holds to represent Serana’s complicated story.
Despite Skyrim‘s ever-increasing age, the love for the classic RPG is still alive and well – and this is at least in part thanks to talented members of the community such as the above cosplayers. These character recreations are a display of creativity, dedication, and attention to detail (which doesn’t go unnoticed). It’ll likely be several years before The Elder Scrolls 6 releases, and this gives Skyrim fans ample of time to bring even greater and more impressive projects to fruition. However, simply based on the merit and talent of the above cosplays, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim‘s sequel may have preemptively met its match in the cosplay department.
