The cast of Bodkin features a star performance from former Saturday Night Live cast member Will Forte. Bodkin, which releases in its entirety exclusively on Netflix on May 9, 2024, is a 7-episode miniseries that takes place entirely in a small coastal town in Ireland. The series was created by British writer Jez Scharf, whose previous works include Mister Biscuits (2018), Groucho Nietzsche (2014), and The UnDream (2013). Three of Bodkin’s seven episodes are directed by Bronwen Hughes, who is best known for her directorial work on Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and 13 Reasons Why.
Bodkin follows Forte’s happy-go-lucky protagonist Gilbert, a professional podcaster who travels to the small fictitious town of Bodkin, Ireland for a lighthearted piece on a traditional festival. Gilbert is accompanied by Emmy, his ambitious yet inexperienced assistant, and Dove, a no-nonsense investigative journalist who reports on crime, murder, and similarly gruesome topics. Upon arriving in Bodkin, Gilbert, Dove, and Emmy are accompanied by Sean O’Shea, a local townie who is hired to be their driver during their stay. The longer the three journalists stay in Bodkin, the more mysteries they discover.
