Jackson residents have been under a Boil Water notice since Friday. “I have to boil water before I cook it before I cook anything. I have to boil water before I brush my teeth. Using the bathroom, I still have to use jugs of water just to flush and it goes down slow,” said Yolanda Bracey.The Sykes Park Community Center hopes to ease the strain of this notice by opening Sunday and providing water from this water box that produces clean filtered drinking water for residents.”Whether it’s a water crisis or not or whether it’s an emergency, you know this water box is here. Residents should not feel like they have to go to the store and purchase water, you can come and actually fill up for free and get good quality water,” said Rukia Lumumba. Jugs are available but the city recommends you bring your own if you have them. One resident says she and her family are struggling to deal with not having clean water.”Someone has to step in because it be senior citizen’s water pressure be off, and sometimes they don’t have water. We don’t have water, when our bills be paid.
