Clinton Fire working to determine if accelerant was used in house fire

After a home caught fire, the Clinton Fire Department is trying to determine if there is more to the story than just the small fire.According to the fire department, a small fire broke out at a home on Cherry Park Boulevard Thursday night.According to our crews on scene, fire investigators and law enforcement could be seen going door-to-door asking neighbors for surveillance footage.The chief could not confirm or deny, but when asked if this is a potential arson investigation, the chief said maybe.”There’s evidence of some accelerant that was used,” Chief Jeff Blackledge said.According to CFD, there were no injuries.The chief said damage inside the home is minimal. Blackledge said an investigation like this could take two to three weeks.”We have taken some samples of it, and that will be sent to the crime lab to be analyzed,” Blackledge said.
