Subscribers to the Ultra tier of DC Universe Infinite just got access to a whopping 5000 titles with hits from its Black Label and Vertigo imprints.

A serious boon for comic readers has come as DC Comics’ online service, DC Universe Infinite, has just added a large cache of Vertigo and Black Label titles. Subscribers to the service’s premium Ultra tier now have access to thousands of deep cuts from the DC library.

DC Universe Infinite is a relaunch of the company’s previous streaming service, simply titled DC Universe. Whereas DC Universe was a more all-encompassing venture that included original streaming programming like Titans, Swamp Thing and Doom Patrol, DC Universe Infinite was created as a more dedicated service centered around the publisher’s comics. With DC Universe Infinite, fans have the opportunity to read through thousands of classic DC stories, including recent issues with a six-month delay. The service recently added a new ‘Ultra’ tier that reduced that wait down to a month, as well as adding some exclusive books behind the more expensive paywall.

Now, DC is pulling out the big guns to help market its pricey Ultra tier. DC announced via their website that DC Universe Infinite would be expanding its library with an additional five thousand titles available only to those who have an Ultra subscription. To make things better, titles from DC Black Label and Vertigo make up the lion’s share of this expansion. Recent adult-only titles such as Batman: Three Jokers, Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child, and Wonder Woman: Dead Earth are now available for Ultra subscribers to peruse. Fans of Vertigo may be the most interested to here as DC Universe Infinite has made a number of hard to find titles easily available such as Shade, The Changing Man, Sandman Mystery Theatre, and the Vertigo Visions series. Not to mention, subscribers finally have the chance to read Watchmen on the service for the first time.

Black Label and Vertigo: Worth The Ultra Price?

Now, it’s not as though DC Universe Infinite has had nothing from DC’s more mature lines on the service before. Even now, subscribers who don’t belong to the Ultra tier can access Vertigo titles such as Preacher or Black Label books like The Question: The Deaths of Vic Sage. Not to mention DC has made good on their word that the library has been constantly expanding for all its users. However, this recent addition of adult-oriented titles may just scratch the itch of fans looking for something more on the service.

Vertigo was home to some of DC Comics’ most daring and game-changing creator-owned works such as Y: The Last Man or Fables. The imprint had hundreds of stories that departed from what DC was doing with its main line of comics. That said, DC Black Label has been finding its own unique voice, telling stories readers would never find in the publisher’s monthly ongoings. Vertigo and Black Label are imprints filled with rich stories and now fans have a chance to do a deep dive with literally thousands of comics. Sure, it’s a bit more costly. But for the chance to read some killer Black Label and Vertigo titles, it’s a priceless experience for DC Universe Infinite subscribers.
