WE CAUGHT UP WITH CYNTHIA AND NIMBLE AT THE HOG DOG PRODUCTIONS TRAINING FACILITY IN MILLERSVILLE TO FIND OUT HOW THEY DID IT. CYNTHIA HAS BEEN TRAINING DOGS FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS. SHE ACTUALLY WON THE AGILITY COMPETITION LAST YEAR WITH HER BORDER COLLIE TRUANT. BUT SHE’S PARTICULARLY SPECIAL BECAUSE OF HER SPEED FOR HER SIZE. SO I’VE HAD SOME VERY FAST BORDER COLLIES, BUT FOR TO HAVE A DOG HER SIZE BE AS FAST OR FASTER THAN THE AVERAGE BORDER COLLIE IS JUST, TO ME, AWESOME. CYNTHIA AND NIMBLE TRAINED 3 OR 4 DAYS A WEEK FOR SHORT INTERVALS BECAUSE, WELL, NIMBLE ISN’T THE ONLY ONE WHO NEEDS A BREAK. DO YOU HAVE A HARD TIME KEEPING UP WITH HER? ABSOLUTELY, ABSOLUTELY. SHE IS VERY FAST, WHICH IS WHY I HAVE TO HAVE OBSTACLE SKILLS WHERE I CAN SEND HER TO AN OBSTACLE AND I CAN BE FAR, FAR AWAY FROM IT. SO I CAN MAKE I COULD DO LESS YARDAGE. SHE DOES MORE YARDAGE ON COURSE, NIMBLE IS MOSTLY TOY MOTIVATED. SHE LOVES PRAISE AND MOST OF ALL SPENDING TIME WITH CYNTHIA. SHE HAS SUCH A LOOK OF JOY EVERY TIME WE FINISH ANY COURSE, WHETHER IT IS GOOD OR BAD. SHE’S JUST PERFECT. SHE’S AN AMAZING DOG TO SHARE MY LIFE WITH. AND UP NEXT FOR NIMBLE AND CYNTHIA. Dog making moves after winning agility competition at national dog show

Maryland dog “Nimble” is living up to her name after she stunned the crowd at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show, where she took the trophy in the agility competition.Nimble is a 6-year-old border collie-papillon mix and earlier this month at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York, in less than 28 seconds, the little, but mighty mixed dog crushed the agility competition.”I was so excited. She was excited, so it was a pretty magical moment,” said Cynthia Hornor, Nimble’s trainer.Hornor has trained dogs for more than 20 years, and she won the agility competition last year with her border collie, “Truent.””She’s particularly special because of her speed for her size. I’ve had some very fast border collies, but to have a dog her size be fast or faster than the average border collie, it’s just, to me, awesome,” Hornor said.She and Nimble train three or four days a week for short intervals because Nimble isn’t the only one who needs a break.”She is very fast, which is why I have to have obstacle skills, where I can send it to an obstacle, and I could be far, far away from it. So, I can do less yardage and she can do the course,” Hornor said. Nimble is mostly toy-motivated. She loves praise, and spending time with Hornor is her favorite thing to do.”She has such a look of joy anytime we finish any course. Whether it’s good or bad, she’s just perfect. She’s an amazing dog to share my life with,” Hornor said.Nimble and Hornor are next headed to Europe in July to represent Team USA.
