A Las Vegas landmark since 1942, the El Cortez Casino is set to undergo a major expansion. The $20 million makeover will include a new restaurant, a Starbucks coffee, two new bars, and a high limit lounge. Work will begin this summer and is scheduled to be completed early next year.

Each of the new design will be meticulously fashioned to mirror the traditional look and appeal that people love about the El Cortez Casino. The plan is to preserve the vintage charm that guests had come to expect from the city’s longest-standing resorts. The new expansion comes after $30 million in work done to the to the original 47 rooms, Tower Premium Rooms, and the casino-floor bathrooms.

The renovation work will also includes expanding the casino floor space by 10,000 square feet, as well as refurbishing 4,000 square feet of the current casino floor. The new high-limit lounge will provide guests with seclusion and an enhanced gaming atmosphere, and the property will introduce two new bars. Additionally, this work will mean that the resort will welcome a Starbucks coffee shop which should open next month. There will also be a new Asian cuisine concept, Hot Noods by Chinglish, which should open early in 2025.

Kenny Epstein, CEO and Chairman at El Cortez Casino, said they are thrilled to unveil this expansion, and that it will represent a significant milestone for the casino. He added that “These enhancements arrive at a pivotal moment of heightened demand from both locals and visitors to Fremont Street.”
