GETTYSBURG TONIGHT WITH MORE ED. YEAH, THE LADY FARM IS BEING TRANSFORMED AND IT WILL BE READY FOR 800 RE-ENACTORS WHO WILL STAGE THE FAMOUS CIVIL WAR BATTLE. WORK CREWS HAVE A LOT OF WORK AHEAD OF THEM, AS THE BIG CIVIL WAR WEEKEND CLOSES IN, TENTS ARE BEING SET UP. SOME WILL HOUSE VENDORS SELLING GETTYSBURG THEMED MERCHANDISE, OTHERS WILL BE USED FOR KIDS ACTIVITIES OR LIVING HISTORY. OUR WATER SOURCES ARE COMING IN ALONG WITH OUR PORTA POTS. UH, WE HAVE, UH, SUTLERS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN SET UP SINCE MONDAY IN 1863. SUTLERS FOLLOWED TROOPS ON THE MARCH. THEY PROVIDED ALL KINDS OF MERCHANDISE NOT PROVIDED BY THE MILITARY TODAY, RE-ENACTORS AND SPECTATORS CAN BUY EVERYTHING FROM TENTS, SWORDS, EVEN REPLICA CIVIL WAR UNIFORMS. BIG SELLERS FOR US IS TENTS RIGHT NOW AND FOOTWEAR 8000 SPECTATORS ARE EXPECTED TO SHOW UP FOR THE TWO DAY BATTLE REENACTMENT. BUT WHEN IT’S ON THE 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND, IT BRINGS A LOT OF ECONOMIC, UM, ADVANTAGES TO THE AREA AND A LOT OF PEOPLE TO THE AREA, TO SPEND MONEY IN FACT, THE REENACTMENT WEEKEND IS EXPECTED TO BRING IN $10 MILLION TO THE LOCAL ECONOMY, 4000 TICKETS HAVE ALREADY BEEN PRE-SOLD. The Battle of Gettysburg will be waged again this weekend on the Daniel Lady Farm outside of Gettysburg.Eight hundred reenactors are expected to recreate Pickett’s Charge.The two-day event, held Saturday and Sunday, is expected to draw 8,000 spectators.Four thousand tickets have already been presold. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate.As opening day closes in, work crews are setting up tents and doing other preparations.The reenactors are expected to arrive beginning Thursday. Some of them are coming from as far away as Canada, Florida and Texas.Some sutlers have already arrived. They are merchants who traveled with troops and supplied them with items not provided by the military.They now sell Civil War-themed items to reenactors and spectators.Tents, shoes and boots are some of the hottest items.
