Fordie Hayes Interview by Big Al Weekley for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show

Mississippi Native, Fordie Hays is an up and coming Country Artist with a big personality and a unique sound equally as large. Fordie says when he was born in April, 1988 music was already running through his veins; he comes from a long line of singers, song writers and guitar pickers. Fordie’s first time attending a concert was at the age of five when he won tickets to a Travis Tritt concert from the small town grocery store where he lived in Mendenhall, MS. That concert awoken his dream of one day sharing his music with fans of his own; from that night on he knew music was his destiny. Fordie has worked hard at dreaming his musical talents into a successful singer-songwriting career. He has the privilege of working alongside some of the best songwriters, producers, musicians and management in the country music industry; the people who make legends out of ordinary people.

Fordie’s first break came when he met songwriter Tommy Barnes. Tommy Barnes is an award winning song writer. His credits include three chart toppers for Tim McGraw. Tommy wrote Fordie’s first single “Life in the Slow Lane” which climbed the charts on IHEART Radio giving Fordie recognition for his musical talents.

Having moved to Nashville at the age of 18 Fordie took odd jobs with flexible schedules in order to make time to work on his passion for music. In 2007, when his family began to grow he moved back to Mississippi to share in the joys of raising his sons . Fordie already knows his sons are going to follow him into music because he recognizes the signs of music coursing through their veins. Now Fordie splits his time between his home in Magee, MS and his Nashville, TN location.

Growing up Fordie loved singing at the local VFW and any other place where kids were welcome to step up to the microphone. His fan base began developing before he entered Jr. High School and continues to grow every day. Fordie’s grandfather came from a family with 10 brothers and most weekends you’d find them all gathered together playing their guitars, writing songs and singing; music is truly the heartbeat of his family. Those family concerts gave Fordie the confidence he needed to perform on stage. Fordie’s career is dedicated to the memories of those brothers who each should have been legends but never caught the right break. One of those brothers, Billy Langham, often performed on local stages around the state and had the opportunity to go further if he had not been killed in the line of duty as a Mississippi State Trooper in 1981. Fordie is ready to carry on his Great-Uncle’s dream as well as his own. There can be no better family tradition or honor for him than to share his brand of passion for music. He’s chasing the musical dream of his family before him and hopes to pave the way for family who follow in his footsteps once his name is a household word.
