Temperatures are in the mid to upper 70s Monday morning with high humidity. A front has moved through the state, which will limit rain chances for the next two days. It could bring spotty showers and storms south of the metro, but areas to the north look to remain dry. Dewpoints will fall through the day in north Mississippi, but I don’t expect that to be felt here unless its for a few hours tomorrow morning.Highs will reach the mid 90s yet again for the next several days. Tuesday will be the hottest of the week with upper 90s likely and feels like temperatures between 105 and 115 degrees. There could be a slight uptick in rain chances for Wednesday, but overall expect better summer showers and storms for the weekend than the weekday. Unfortunately, the phrase “temperature relief” is not in the vocabulary for yet another week. Tropics Update:The tropics are active with two named storm and a tropical wave.Tropical Storm Chris formed in the Bay of Campeche late yesterday and is expected to make a landfall in Mexico later today. The tropical wave behind Hurricane Beryl will follow Beryl and potentially become Debby by the end of the week.Beryl, a powerful major hurricane, will cross the Windward Islands later today and impact much of the Caribbean throughout the week. By the end of the week, Beryl is expected to move across the Yucatan Peninsula and into the Bay of Campeche. Where it goes from there is based on a few factors, including how much it gets torn apart over the peninsula and what an upper level high pressure in the southeastern United States will do. If the high pressure stays strong, it’s likely this storm will make its final destination in Mexico. However, if it starts to break down at the end of the week, we could see Beryl pivot as early as the weekend/early next week and make its entrance into the western part of the Gulf of Mexico.
