TALLADEGA COLLEGE TAKES HOME THE TITLE BEATING WILEY COLLEGE 25 TO 2 AT SMITH WILLS STADIUM. THEY WERE ALSO THE LAST TEAM TO WIN THE GCAC IN 2015 BEFORE IT’S 8-YEAR HIATUS UNTIL RETURNING LAST SEASON. HAVING THE TOURNAMENT IS HUGE FOR THE CONFERENCE TEAMS LIKE OUR LOCAL TOUGALOO.. GIVING THEM A PATH TO THE N-A- I-A NATIONAL TOURNAMENT. AND NEXT YEAR THE CONFERENCE WILL TAKE ANOTHER STEP.. RENAMING THEMSELVES THE H-B-C-U ATHLETIC CONFERENCE.. AND ADDING SOME NEW HBCU PROGRAMS. FOR NOW THOUGH.. Talladega College beats Wiley College 25-2 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) baseball conference final at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson.It’s the second season since the GCAC has brought back its baseball conference tournament. By hosting one, it provides an opportunity for member schools like Tougaloo college to clinch a spot in the NAIA National tournament. This year, it’s Talladega.It’s the last conference final before GCAC’s impending rebrand to the HBCU Athletic Association (HBCUAC), where they plan to add more HBCU programs to its ranks.
