Hiker in Hawaii rescues dog that was stuck in 30-foot lava crack

A hiker in Hawaii, Kawika Singson, has been lauded for his bravery after rescuing a 10-month-old dog that fell 30 feet into a deep lava crack outside the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.”A crack very narrow because it’s volcanic fissures, really a lot of them are very narrow. They go down deep and you cannot see the bottom,” said Singson.Misty’s owner, aware of Singson’s previous dog rescues from social media, reached out to him for help. After about nine hours, Singson, an experienced hiker, repelled down the dark fissure and put a harness on Misty, lifting her to safety.”The dog was a bit scared and she was crying. She wanted to get out really bad. You couldn’t see it in the video, but there’s some blood on the wall from his paws trying to scrape his way out,” Singson recounted.Watch the video above for more on this story.
