Powerful creatures called Nightmares appear in Forspoken’s Breakstorm encounters, including the challenging boss and hordes seen from The Jabberwock.
The Jabberwock appears in Forspoken during a Breakstorm event through a boss encounter called a Nightmare, sending hordes of enemies against the player while chaos erupts in Athia’s environment. This in-game event provides players with perhaps their biggest challenge, as these Nightmares are challenging opponents that show up occasionally in certain regions to serve as mini-bosses that can be defeated for special rewards. Players will have to manage their wide variety of movement, offensive, and defensive magics to find which spells work best against The Jabberwock.
The first task players should embark upon quickly before the Nightmare’s hordes and The Jabberwock truly begin to attack is analyzing the enemy weaknesses present. Players have the opportunity to slow down time and analyze their enemies through a scan provided by their Cuff companion, which lets them know what type of magics in Forspoken deal increased damage or which types are resisted by individual foes. This strategy applies to The Jabberwock as well, giving players a great first step before the boss fight even gets underway to formulate a plan of attack against not only the boss, but also their minions to prevent themselves from getting overwhelmed.
Defeating The Jabberwock Nightmare in Forspoken
Players might need to find what discipline of magical teachings works best against The Jabberwock, as each can be easily switched into with a slight slowdown to the free-flowing real-time combat. The Jabberwock’s minions summoned by the Nightmare event on Forspoken‘s large map demand that players have an ever-shifting focus, balancing area control spells against the enemy hordes with the continuous basic damage-dealing magic without a cooldown. Support magics take time to recover, so players are recommended to use these tools carefully in order to avoid a lack of options during the fight.
Putting aside the concept of enemy weaknesses and vulnerabilities, Forspoken has a plethora of spell options that entirely depend on the player’s preference when in battle. The upgraded magics from the skill trees associated with the aforementioned disciplines are easily switched out for simple re-specs if one spell doesn’t seem to work in the player’s favor against The Jabberwock. Charged attacks from basic spell strikes are great, consistent sources of damage that reduce The Jabberwock’s immense health pool as players avoid its stronger attacks.
The flashy magics of Forspoken may be the primary method to reducing The Jabberwock’s horde to nothing, but players also have access to Parkour techniques through their Stamina which are crucial during this battle. By holding down an input, players are able to avoid most attack strikes from enemies and bosses that are not indicated by a red icon beforehand.
The inclusion of this indicator incentivizes players to avoid the next attack at all costs, lest they take big damage from this mini-boss. If players have upgraded gear and a large number of spells at their disposal, beating the Jabberwock Nightmare in Forspoken relies solely on experimentation and persistence.
