Huawei held a big event in Dubai yesterday, where it launched the Watch Fit 3, introduced two new laptops to the international audience, and introduced new color options for its wearables.
The launch also saw the introduction of Freebuds 6i, Huawei’s new affordable TWS earphones. They have a similar design to their Freebuds 5i predecessors, but come with larger batteries and better noise cancellation.
Huawei implements a new noise cancellation algorithm, Intelligent Dynamic ANC 3.0. It monitors environmental noises and adjusts noise cancellation accordingly. The new buds have a noise-filtering chamber that detects mid and high-frequency voices and sounds and filters them most effectively.
Specs-wise, Freebuds 6i keeps the 11 mm quad-magnet dynamic drivers, but are now 50% more powerful and Hi-Res certified. The case is exactly the same as the predecessor, while the buds have minuscule differences.
The biggest change is in battery capacity. The buds kept the 55 mAh capacity, but the case now has a 510 mAh cell, a 25% increase from last year’s Freebuds. This means two more hours of playback on a single charge – 8 hours with ANC off and 5 hours with ANC on. However, greater capacity means longer charge time – the case needs 110 minutes, while the buds will need 60 minutes to go from 0 to 100%.
The earbuds are IP54 certified and can connect to any device over Bluetooth 5.3. There is seamless connectivity to devices with EMUI 10 and older, while any other Android phone can download the AI Life from the App Gallery for more control options like type of noise cancellation and gesture control.
Huawei Freebuds 6i
Huawei listed the Freebuds 6i in three colors: White, Purple, and Black. The company has yet to announce any details about pricing and availability.
