Huawei has expanded the availability of the Pura 70 series to an international audience, and potential buyers are eager to know if the Ultra’s retractable lens is its only standout feature.

The popular YouTube channel WekiHome recently conducted a teardown of both the Pura 70 Pro and the Pura 70 Ultra. The teardown revealed that while the phones share a similar internal architecture, they have some minor differences.

One significant change Huawei made to the Pro version is swapping the positions of the main camera and the telephoto lens. This adjustment was made because the sensor does not require as much light.

NFC, the wireless coil, and the heat dissipation film are nearly identical in both models. Although the functionality remains the same, the flash cable has been repositioned between the main and telephoto sensors.

Regarding sensors, the Pura 70 Pro boasts a 50 MP OmniVision 50H sensor, which is 1/1.3” in size. It features a six-panel retractable lens with an aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0. During our hands-on experience, we discovered that there are physically nine different aperture steps.

The motherboard of the Pura 70 Pro is designed with a dual-layer stacked board and is almost identical to the Ultra. Huawei has opted for a straightforward copper alloy for the VC in this phone instead of the composite materials used in the Ultra, making the chamber twice as heavy.

However, the Pura 70 Pro features a glass panel on the back instead of faux leather, resulting in a slightly lighter overall weight.

The Pura 70 Pro is priced at €1,199 in Europe for the 12 GB + 512 GB version. Buyers can choose between White and Black, as the Purple variant will not be available in Europe.
