Here’s how to get your vehicle ready for an Independence Day or summer road trip

HEY. THAT’S MEAN. IT IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT TO SAY THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE BUSIEST TRAVEL PERIODS OF THE YEAR. TRIPLE A HAS ACTUALLY ESTIMATING THAT THIS 4TH OF JULY WILL SURPASS PRE-PANDEMIC LEVELS BACK IN 2019. WHEN IT COMES TO TRAVELERS. AND IF YOU’RE ONE OF THE FOLKS WHO’S GOING TO BE TRAVELING BY CAR, HERE’S A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU HIT THE ROAD FOR THE HOLIDAYS. THIS 4TH OF JULY, TRAVEL IS A BANG THIS YEAR. WHETHER IT’S PLANES, TRAINS, OR AUTOMOBILES. PEOPLE ARE PACKING UP AND GETTING AWAY FOR THE 4TH OF JULY HOLIDAY. WE ARE HITTING A NEW RECORD WITH ALMOST 71 MILLION PEOPLE TRAVELING 50 MILES OR MORE FROM HOME. THIS HOLIDAY WEEK, AND THE BULK OF THOSE TRAVELERS WILL BE SEEING THE SIGHTS BY CAR. AND THAT NUMBER JUST KEEPS GOING UP. IN 2019, WE SAW 55.3 MILLION PEOPLE TAKE A ROAD TRIP FOR THE 4TH OF JULY HOLIDAY LAST YEAR. THAT WAS A NEW RECORD. THE NUMBER WAS 57.9 MILLION PEOPLE TRAVELING THIS YEAR. WE’RE BEATING THAT BY AN ADDITIONAL 2.8 MILLION DRIVERS ON THE ROAD THIS HOLIDAY. I’D RATHER YOU SPEND $75 TOWARD AN OIL CHANGE THAN SPENDING $4,000 FOR A NEW ENGINE. AND WITH DOZENS TO EVEN HUNDREDS OF MILES BEING TRAVELED ON THE ROAD, HERE’S A COUPLE OF ITEMS EXPERTS SAY YOU NEED TO CHECK OFF THE LIST TO MAKE SURE YOUR VEHICLE IS READY FOR VACATION MODE BEFORE YOU LEAVE ANYWHERE, DOUBLE CHECK ALL YOUR FLUIDS, CHECK YOUR BRAKE FLUID. CHECK YOUR ENGINE OIL FOR SURE. TPMS LIGHT USUALLY TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR USUALLY COMES ON IF THE WEATHER CHANGES. A LOT OF PEOPLE KIND OF IF IT DROPS UP A COUPLE PSI, A LOT OF PEOPLE FREAK OUT ABOUT IT. SO THAT’S ONE THING. DEFINITELY CHECK YOUR AIR IN THE TIRES. ZAID BADRI, STORE MANAGER AT MAVIS DISCOUNT TIRE OFF OF EMBASSY ROAD IN LANCASTER COUNTY, SAYS THAT THIS IS THE NUMBER ONE PROBLEM HE SEES COMING INTO THE SHOP DURING THIS TIME OF THE YEAR. THE THING I’VE BEEN SEEING, PEOPLE NOT CHECKING THEIR OIL FLUID FOR SURE, THE OIL, THERE’S NOT ENOUGH OIL IN THE ENGINE AND THEY COME IN HERE AND NOW THEY’RE HEARING A TAPPING NOISE. MOST OF THE TIMES IF YOU’RE RUNNING ON VERY LOW ON OIL, THIS IS GOING TO COST YOU A LOT OF MONEY. YOU’RE GOING OVER 80 MILES AN HOUR. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. AND AGAIN, IF YOU’RE ONE OF THE FOLKS OUT THERE WHO’S GOING TO BE TRAVELING BY CAR THIS HOLIDAY SEASON, TRIPLE A SAYS THAT THEY SUGGEST YOU LEAVE EARLIER IN THE DAY RATHER THAN LATER. THAT’S ALWAYS BETTER. THEY ALSO SAY THE BEST DAY TO TRAVEL IS ACTUALLY 4TH OF JULY. PEOPLE WILL ALREADY BE AT THEIR DESTINATION, SO THERE WON’T BE A LOT OF TRAFFIC AT THAT TIME. AND THEY SAY THE BUSIEST DAYS TO TRAVEL, WELL, THAT WILL BE TOMORROW, WHICH IS WEDNESDAY AND SUNDAY AS PEOPLE HEAD BACK FROM THEIR HOLIDAY DESTINATION, REPORTING LIVE HERE
