Why take a chance when there is a better alternative?” Doggett said.In response to these concerns, President Biden has been in damage control mode, meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris and over 20 Democratic governors for more than an hour Wednesday.”I think that the conversations that the president has been having with Democrats across the country is one to reassure them that he is in this race,” said Quentin Fulks, Principal Deputy Biden Campaign Manager.Some of the governors spoke with reporters after the meeting with Biden.”We were honest about the feedback we were getting, we were honest about the concerns we were getting from people,” said Maryland Gov. Wes Moore. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said, “a path to victory is the number-one priority and the number-one priority of the president.”New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is also standing with Biden.”I can tell you right now, President Biden is in it to win it and all of us pledged our support to him because the stakes could not be higher,” she said.While the meeting didn’t address all the concerns that have come up after Biden’s debate performance last week and some of the governors say they’re still worried about the state of the race, they say the focus for now is beating Donald Trump.
