Storyline,
In the final days of the American Civil War, just outside of Natchez, Mississippi, Union Army Colonel John Henry Thomas and company plan one last attack on a small Confederate unit. However, after decisively defeating them, they learn that the war ended three days earlier at Appomattox Courthouse in Virginia.

The Undefeated, an American Western and Civil War movie from 1969 by Andrew V. McAllen, stars John Wayne and Rock Hudson. The movie shows what happened when the French Imperial Army got involved in Mexico in the 1860s, during the nearby American Civil War. It’s also based on the true story of General Joseph Orville Shelbi, who was in charge of the Confederate States Army and fled to Mexico after the American Civil War (1861–1865) to try to join Maximilian’s Imperial Mexican troops.
Andrew V. McLaglen served as the director.
James Lee Barrett composed the screenplay.
