An investigation that began with a carjacking, ended with a drug bust in Jackson.The Jackson Police Department’s Criminal Apprehension Team was tracking carjackings reported in the city, Commander Abraham Thompson said. Investigators determined that a lot of the stolen vehicles ended up at a location on Deer Park Street.”From there, the ‘CAT Team’ gathered more intel on the reason why they were going there,” Thompson said. “From the intel, we learned there was an illegal narcotics operation transpiring there.”A search warrant was executed at a location in the 800 block of Deer Park Street, which uncovered illegal drugs and assault rifles, according to Thompson. Thompson said several arrests were made on charges ranging from convicted felon in possession of a firearm to possession of marijuana with the intention to distribute.”What we would like the community to know is we’re still out here working relentlessly, and we’re going to continue our efforts making sure the community is safe,” Thompson said.The investigation into carjackings in the city is continuing, Thompson said.
