A wish came true for a Mississippi kid battling sickle cell disease.Ten-year-old Anthony Laird-McKay walked into a huge surprise Thursday at the Mississippi Children’s Museum.Thanks to a partnership between Mississippi Baptist Medical Center and Make-A-Wish Mississippi, Anthony is heading to Disney World and Universal Studios on June 4.”It’s just really a joy to be able to participate in this. I thank Make-A-Wish for letting us partner with them, and it’s just rewarding to see the difference we can make in some of the pediatric patients and their families’ lives,” said Mississippi Baptist Medical Center CEO Bobbie K. Ware.Since being diagnosed with sickle cell disease, Anthony has had much to overcome, but he remains positive and happy. He told us he couldn’t wait to meet his favorite superhero, Spider-Man.
