David Vee just took talking smack to a whole new level. There’s a history of rivalry between the Minnesota man and his fishing buddies, but Vee recently rented out an electronic billboard and took the tradition up a notch. The group always takes an annual fishing trip and, according to Vee, one of them has become known for coming home empty handed year after year. “He’s been less than successful in previous trips,” Vee told WDAY. On one trip, Vee said a friend who slept on the boat for most of the day was still able to snag a fish, but Troy did not. But, nonetheless, Troy continued to talk smack and sent his fellow fisherman a taunting video, where Christopher McDonald of “Happy Gilmore” says, “You guys really think you’re going to beat Troy on your ice fishing trip this year?”That’s when Vee made his next move: A billboard with Troy’s face and a message that says, “This is Troy. He sucks at fishing. Talk smack to him at troysucks2@gmail.com.” “Troysucks and Troysucks1 were already taken,” Vee said. So far, Vee said dozens of emails have come in: Some give advice, but others keep the smack talk streak going. Coincidentally, the billboard reached its intended audience. It’s located along Highway 371 in Brainerd, Minnesota, where 20,000 visitors recently came to compete in an annual fishing tournament.Vee said he paid about $300 for the prank to appear for five days.”He’s a fine fisherman. I won’t tell him that to his face, but he’s a fine fisherman and he knows how to catch a fish and all that stuff, but just if there’s bad luck on the boat or in the fish house, Troy’s got it,” Vee said.
