Man charged in several Jackson crimes, including shooting that killed 27-year-old woman

A judge denied bond for a man who the Jackson Police Department said went on a violent crime spree that lasted less than 12 hours, leaving one woman dead and another person with gunshot wounds. Robert Anderson, 37, is charged with armed robbery, business burglary, murder, armed carjacking, armed carjacking/aggravated assault, attempted armed carjacking and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.Police said the investigation began about 8 p.m. Monday at Walgreens on W. McDowell Road, where Anderson is accused of holding up a clerk. Investigators believe Anderson then walked next door and burglarized the Cadence Bank. Anderson went next to Serenity Apartments on Hospital Drive, where police believe he was armed when he confronted Carrie Fleming, 27, in the parking lot. Detectives said Fleming was shot and killed at the door to her apartment. Detectives believe Anderson then carjacked a 2010 Dodge Charger by forcing the driver out of the vehicle at gunpoint. Police said before Anderson could leave, he crashed the Charger.Anderson is believed to have then walked to Woodridge Apartments, where he tried to carjack another vehicle, and ended up shooting the driver, according to police.Investigators said Anderson went back to Serenity Apartments at about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday and tried to carjack someone else. Police said they took Anderson into custody with the help of neighbors.
