A Louisville man is crediting his birthday after winning big on a Kentucky Lottery scratch-off. The man told officials he purchased the $5 scratch-off, scanning it before even scratching it.“I already knew it was a big one,” he said. He then scratched the ticket, showing he had won the top prize. “I got to four and five ,” he said. “I was like, ‘Oh, this is pretty real!’ Then the last number in the right corner was a seven.”At first, the man thought he had only won $7,777, but when he scratched the back of the ticket, he saw he had won $70,000 more. “I really just looked at it and was like, ‘Oh my gosh,’” he said. “There was a lady scratching next to me and she said, ‘What?’ And, I said, ‘I don’t know if I should say, but I just won the jackpot on this!’”The man left with the winning ticket and claimed his prize on June 10 at the headquarters in Louisville. He also coincidentally won the ticket on June 7, exactly a month before his birthday on July 7. “I always kind of felt partial to the ticket because of that,” he said. “But did I ever in a million years think that I would actually hit one of those jackpots?”The man walked away with $55,994.44 after taxes. He said he plans to use the money to pay off his truck and for home renovations. “I’m just going to be thankful that there’s not much concern,” he said. “I’m happy to have that worry-free feeling again.”
