The family of a Massachusetts man who died of a stabbing says he was fatally injured while trying to save his younger brother from suffering that fate.David LeBoeuf, 20, suffered the fatal injuries Friday night during an altercation on the Northbridge Town Common, according to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.LeBoeuf’s mother, Amy, said her 17-year-old son, David’s half-brother, was stabbed several times during the altercation and that David was stabbed in the chest when he tried to fend off the assailant.”My son stepped in, yanked the kid off. The kid turned and stabbed my son right in the heart,” Amy LeBoeuf said.David LeBoeuf and his brother were both transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, where LeBoeuf died of his injuries.Amy LeBoeuf said David was expecting his first child with his fiancée.”I will have a piece of my son, and that’s all I can look forward to because I won’t have his wedding day or anything else,” said Amy LeBoeuf.LeBoeuf’s brother was in critical condition after the stabbing. He is still recovering in the hospital and is expected to survive his injuries, according to Amy LeBoeuf.”He went out saving his brother,” Amy LeBoeuf said. “If he wasn’t there, his brother would have been dead.”The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office said a 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody in connection with the stabbings. The suspect was expected to be arraigned Monday in the Milford Session of Worcester Juvenile Court, according to authorities.The stabbings are being investigated by Northbridge police and state police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office.Amy LeBoeuf and her family have set up a GoFundMe page to pay for funeral expenses and to help David’s child.
