Will Jenna Ortega Become Tim Burton’s Next Go-To Star?

Having already proven herself a deft hand at Burton’s trademark gothic sensibilities, Ortega effortlessly channels both the intensity and the kinds of off-beat mannerisms his characters are renowned for.

Well known for his unique visual style and off-beat characters, Burton’s career as a filmmaker has seen him collaborate with some of Hollywood’s biggest names in a career spanning almost 40 years. In addition to his ongoing association with Keaton,Burton’s frequent collaborators are an impressive list that has previously included the likes of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Danny DeVito, Michael Gough, and Christopher Lee.

Following Keaton’s turn in the original
Beetlejuice
, he would also appear in Burton’s
Batman,
Batman Returns
and
Dumbo.

Yet it would be Ortega’s casting as the Addams family’s delightfully macabre daughter in Netflix’s Wednesday that could potentially be the start of one of Burton’s most fruitful creative partnerships to-date. Effusive in his praise of the young star’s considerable talent, it came as little surprise when news first broke that the director was considering Ortega for a leading role in his Beetlejuice sequel. Having already proven herself a deft hand at Burton’s trademark gothic sensibilities, Ortega effortlessly channels both the intensity and the kinds of off-beat mannerisms his characters are renowned for.
