The state Democratic Party has selected Cheikh Taylor as the chairman of the party for the next four years as party leaders get ready for the Democratic National convention in Chicago this summer. He was chosen during the state-wide convention at the Jackson Convention Complex.Taylor says Democrats want to be united to reelect President Joe Biden. “This is how we organize this is how we build our base. And it comes from all our 82 counties so you’ll see representation when you go inside of all the representation represented in different counties. So this is how we go back to our communities and back with the type of energy to make sure Joe Biden gets reelected and also our vice president Kamala Harris,” Cheikh Taylor said. Democrats have already selected 42 delegates who will represent the state party at the nominating convention. Earlier this month, the Mississippi Republican Party selected former U.S. attorney Mike Hurst as their new chairman of the GOP. Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, was a guest at the party’s convention.
