At least 400 gallons of milk are now being stored and refrigerated at Mississippi Food Network. Prairie Farms donated lactose-free milk to the organization to close out National Dairy Month which was last month in June. Mississippi Food Network is part of a long list of organizations across the U-S that received these milk donations. “A lot of our neighbors in need don’t get fresh milk. A lot of the milk that they get is shelf-stable milk and they want something that provides nutritional value right away. The fact that it’s lactose-free makes it great for all families,” said Stacey Jordan, the Director of Development of Mississippi Food Network. Prairie Farms says that they want to continue to increase the accessibility of fresh quality milk to communities in need. This comes as the company recently expanded its dairy portfolio with lactose-free products. Mississippi Food Network says they are extremely grateful for the donations. They are also open to receiving more.
