We had to make a return visit to Starkville, Mississippi this summer to check in on how the Mississippi State Football team was progressing under their new Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Rick Court. Of course, we visited Hail State last summer on our ASAP FOOTBALL POWER Road Show, but needed to see the changes!
We’ve seen Coach Court at Bowling Green, Toledo and Ohio State and it also gave a a chance to see Thomas Stallworth, Brady Collins and Nick Savage in action during the first morning group.
11112Upon our arrival, we saw a very spirited conditioning workout, as the ‘Dawgs worked their way through without a bark. Later, after we all headed to the team meeting room where ASAP’s Ted Lambrinides spoke the team on the topic of “Drugs, Supplements & Personal Conduct.” Definitely a winning message for athletes and young people!
Once Head Football Coach Dan Mullen finished wrapped up the meeting, we were headed off to a barbecue joint called The Little Dooey where we had some pulled pork (protein!) and some crawfish poppers….. not bad! Then it was time for the Hilton Garden Inn at Starkville to get rested up for a morning workout with the strength staff.
So, after cranking out an early bird workout, somehow I was able to film some footage of the first group of Mississippi State Bulldogs. Interestingly, these guys had first group priority because they were volunteers to visit a hospital later on that day.
Here’s a look at what’s going on behind the scenes in Starkville.
