The owner of a Rankin County business accused of scamming customers into fixing their garage doors has pleaded guilty.Jamie Ladell Sullivan, 46, the owner of Mr. Fix It Garage Door, was arrested in September 2020 by the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of U.S. marshals and the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.Sullivan, of Brandon, was the target of an investigation launched after Rankin County investigators received multiple reports from residents who said they paid for garage door installation, but no work was ever done. The customers said they paid for all the materials and labor up front, investigators said. When the customers tried to confront Sullivan, he would offer excuses until he eventually cut off all communication, investigators said.Sullivan pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of false pretense and was sentenced to 10 years, with five years suspended, meaning Sullivan will serve five years in prison. The Rankin County District Attorney’s Office recovered the full restitution of more than $11,900 from Sullivan for the victims.
