A new federal lawsuit has been filed pointing out an alleged past action of one of the members of the Rankin County “Goon Squad.”The lawsuit filed April 30, names Sheriff Bryan Bailey and former investigator Christian Dedmon as a defendant in the case along with others. This incident happened back in 2021. The federal lawsuit said a meth sale was set up between 38-year-old Bobbie Adams and a confidential informant at a gas station off of Highway 469 in Pearl, Mississippi, May 1, 2021. The lawsuit states that once the purchase was made, and deputies moved in that is when Adams took off running. The defendants and plaintiff all gave a different story. Former Rankin County Investigator Christian Dedmon wrote in his incident report that a K-9 named “Voodoo” tracked down Adams who was eating meth, and when the dog found him, Adams kicked the dog causing him to bite. The lawsuit shows that an unknown defendant gave a different version of the story to medical personnel alleging the deputies were trying to cover up the torture. This statement said Adams fell while he was running from the police, and stated that Voodoo was used to apprehend and tackle Adams. Adams in the court filing said he was hiding, and gave himself up claiming he was already cuffed and arrested no longer evading arrest or resisting arrest, eight minutes before the dog was released on him, biting and chewing his leg. He alleges he was tortured by defendants Dedmon, K-9 officer Tony Shack and at least four other unknow members of the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office. The lawsuit states that Adams had punctured wounds from the bite and also claims the dog crushed and dislocated his bones highlighted in a photo shown in the filing. Adam’s attorney Bobby Moak argues his 4th Amendment rights were violated, with use of excessive force and claims a conspiracy to interfere with his civil rights by trying to cover up the attack. 16 WAPT reached out to Moak for a comment on the case and he said, “The case speaks for itself.” Adams is currently serving time for the sale of methamphetamines. The case at this point has not been assigned to a federal judge. We reached out to Bailey for a comment and are still waiting to hear back. “Goon Squad” member and former investigator, Christian Dedmon is currently serving time in prison for his part in the attack against two Black men in January 2023.

A new federal lawsuit has been filed pointing out an alleged past action of one of the members of the Rankin County “Goon Squad.”

The lawsuit filed April 30, names Sheriff Bryan Bailey and former investigator Christian Dedmon as a defendant in the case along with others.

16 WAPT reached out to Moak for a comment on the case and he said, “The case speaks for itself.”

Adams is currently serving time for the sale of methamphetamines. The case at this point has not been assigned to a federal judge.

We reached out to Bailey for a comment and are still waiting to hear back.
