The Hal’s St. Paddy’s Day Parade and Festival is back in action for another year. Saturday, people packed downtown Jackson dressed in creative outfits and plenty of green.The parade was started 40 years ago, and it continues to be a staple in the city. Parade-goers got to experience the unique tunes of the Sonic Boom of the South and Jim Hill High School Band, just two talented groups that participated in the weekend festivities. With decorative floats and southern food filling the air, one parade-goer says this event is bringing the city together. “It’s good for the city cause it brings them together, revitalizing the city, making it what it ought to be downtown Jackson with a lot of fun today,” Philandis Thomas. The fun doesn’t stop at the parade, a slew of parties will carry on into the night. All of the money raised from the St. Paddy’s Parade will go to the Children’s Hospital.
