The Jackson Police Department says they have made an arrest following a standoff in South Jackson.According to Capt. William Kendrick, police were trying to arrest a suspect in connection to a shooting that happened earlier in the day at the Village Apartments on Raymond Road. Police said the victim in that shooting is in critical condition. Kendrick said the investigation led to a home on Cooper Road, where they found the suspect’s vehicle. Kendrick said after negotiating, officers were able to apprehend the suspect, Barnett Evans, at a home on Treehaven Drive. Evans’ vehicle was towed from the home on Cooper Road. Evans is facing aggravated assault and other charges. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
