Red Dead Online: How to Enable Autopilot
Red Dead Online‘s open world is as massive as the story mode, making it an enormous chore to travel if players don’t use a hidden feature that works like an autopilot. This feature lets players travel the many dirt roads without having to control their horses manually.
It’s an excellent feature for players who want to reach their destination with a manageable amount of effort. In addition to enjoying the ride, players also get to enjoy the many beautiful vistas of Red Dead Online in a cinematic manner. While this mode is an excellent alternative for fast traveling in Red Dead Online, it’s mainly used to conserve energy.
How To Use Automatic Horse Travel
Since this mode is hidden from most players, they will need to take a few steps to enable the feature. Since Red Dead Online‘s Fast Travel feature requires players to go to a train station, purchase a ticket and wait for the train, many players prefer to use the automatic horse travel as it is less time-consuming. So to enable this feature, players can take the below steps:
Step 1 |
Halt the Horst to a stop and open the map |
Step 2 |
Place a waypoint on the map |
Step 3 |
Sit on the horse and start riding holding the X (PlayStation) or A (Xbox) button |
Step 4 |
Press the touchpad (PS4/PS5) or the View Button (Xbox) to enable the cinematic view |
Step 5 |
Do not press any buttons, as it disables the cinematic mode, i.e., the autopilot |
When riding in Cinematic mode, the camera view will keep switching as if the scene was from a film or TV show. However, players should be wary of Red Dead Online‘s enemies, and predators as this mode aren’t immune to attacks from them. In these cases, the horse tends to throw players off, so players should always keep their eyes on the screen to avoid an unfortunate death.
Pros and Cons Of Using The Horse Autopilot
Autopilot is helpful because players don’t need to focus so heavily on navigating paths. The changing camera views can make the journey more relaxing in general. This also results in unique discoveries for players. Many players have found a spot that they wouldn’t have otherwise noticed while riding on autopilot.
Remember that autopilot is still dependent on Red Dead Redemption‘s horse AI. If the horse gets spooked during the ride, the autopilot will turn off, and the player will have to take control. Don’t leave the room or turn away from the screen for too long while traveling. Players can still be attacked by animals, NPCs, or other players while in Red Dead Online.
