We are not asking for a lot, we are asking for the services, which our taxpayer dollars pay for,” said Patty Mace, a resident.Several areas of Utica, Mississippi, are feeling neglected because they say they are not being given a basic necessity: clean water. Water drive volunteers are packing cases of water in resident’s trunks so they can have clean water to drink and cook with.This comes two weeks after the area was without water for seven days because of a water leak.Mace has been living in the area for more than 50 years. She says Reedtown Water Association sends out messages about boil water advisories, low water pressure and other water flow issues to its market area several times a month.Mace says state Rep. Stephanie Foster, of the 63rd District, was able to attain up to $300,000 from the most recent legislative session. It was requested to assist Reedtown Water in making permanent repairs to its water system. “You have to talk to your customers, they are paying customers and they deserve to know what’s going on,” said Monica Bradshaw.Mace said she reached out to the company asking when these repairs would be made.
