Rising R&B songwriter and artist, Rosemarie has released a brand new body of work titled Rock Paper Scissors (Interscope Records/BirdVision Entertainment)– LISTEN HERE.
On the EP, the Complex anointed “R&B Artist to Watch” seamlessly captivates with her arresting vocals and emotive lyricism including a first for her, English-Spanish, reggaeton inspired track “Aprovecha.” Speaking on the EP, Rosemarie shares:
“Since my last release, I’ve learned so much… Been through so much… Felt so much… Grew through so much. Still am, like most do. The 8-track project is a delicate homage to the timeline of not-so-promising relationships. Where the foundation of a relationship can appear solid as a rock, there are moments Rosemarie explains how fragile-as-paper love moves onto scissors where you “cut your losses” and begin the final step of moving on.

Having teased the project since the release of “Fake Love,” last year, Rosemarie set a tone for fans and critics on her ability to harness emotion with a simple guitar backing her powerful vocals. This is continued on track seven of the EP, “Breaking,” — a goosebump-inducing rendition of a heart broken and love lost. The EP gives listeners both sides of the elusive singer’s coin: unfolding passionate throes of a waning relationship on tracks like “Fool’s Gold” to slipping into the realm of reggaeton with the predominantly Spanish-speaking track, “Aprovecha.” Produced by Grammy-nominated Paul “Echo” Irizarry (“Gasolina” by Daddy Yankee) and Candela in hazy Miami, Rosie describes the song as a dance between two potential star-crossed lovers in a red hot groove on slick pavement under the moonlight. About Rosemarie:
Raised in a Dominican and Puerto Rican household, her father a DJ and her late mother a singer, Rosemarie learned the beauty and power of music at a young age. An avid journal writer growing up, Rosemarie used written words to express her emotions which nurtured a natural songwriting instinct. Encouraged to post live covers and join in singing challenges, Rosemarie caught the ear of Bird of Bird Vision Entertainment, home to rap superstar Roddy Ricch. From there, the singer-songwriter secured a deal with Interscope Records and a string of modern R&B gems like “03 Love” featuring NOLA legend Juvenile and the sultry full-throated jam “Henny Talk” followed. The tracks went on to appear on her label debut EP, Sinnergy (2021), which landed on multiple best R&B picks that week including Billboard and Okayplayer and caught the attention of R&B Queen herself, Alicia Keys who cosigned the rising artist for Keys Soulcare. With her songwriting serving as a diary into the hearts of the dreamers, Rosemarie treats soul music as a sacred space. Now, on her sophomore project, Rock Paper Scissors (2023), Rosemarie seamlessly captivates with her arresting vocals and emotive lyricism on songs like “Fool’s Gold,” “Breaking,” including a first, English-Spanish, reggaeton-inspired track “Aprovecha.” Her ability to pen evocative music that withstand the test of time (and arresting creative visuals) has anointed the Los Angeles native as Complex’ 2023 “R&B Artist to Watch.” A huge year ahead of her, Rosemarie intends to stay on the radar with live performances and more music that stretches the boundaries of R&B and childhood influences of hip hop, reggaeton and more.
