Sales and Marketing Professionals announces its first statewide Mississippi Pinnacle Awards honoring the marketing efforts of organizations, events, and individuals. The organization is now accepting nominations for the awards via its website at SMPPinebelt.wixsite.com The nomination deadline is close of business on February 1, 2023.

The Mississippi Pinnacle Awards recognize, promote, and honor excellence, professionalism, and outstanding achievement in sales, marketing, and community engagement and showcase the highest level of public relations talent in the state.

“Sales and Marketing Professionals salutes the achievements and talents of Mississippi owners, directors, account executives, event planners, and community volunteers who are an integral part of the Magnolia State,” Michael Marks, Mississippi Pinnacle Awards Chair, said. We have been honoring these individuals on a regional basis for a decade and look forward to welcoming practitioners statewide into this prestigious group at the April 11 event in Hattiesburg.

Nominees prepare portfolios that are reviewed by an out-of-state panel of judges, who then narrow the competition to the finalists, and from those finalists, the committee chooses top honorees. During the pandemic, the group honored Mississippi’s musical ambassador, Vasti Jackson, as its last overall winner.

In addition to the Pinnacle winner, the overall individual winner will receive the Bud Kirkpatrick Award, named after the master public relations practitioner. The Charlie Holt Award, named for the national radio icon, will go to the top business. The Bernice Linton Award, named to honor the SMP past president, will be awarded to the most successful event.

“In addition to category awards, we also honor lifetime achievement and humanitarian efforts by organizations,” said Katie Martin, SMP President.

Individuals and businesses statewide can sponsor the Pinnacle Awards and support this year’s recipients. Monies raised through the Pinnacle event are used to provide scholarships to deserving high school and college students each year. Known as the Rising Star Scholarships, these awards are given to students who will pursue careers in sales, marketing, or community engagement.
