Saturday Evening Weather

one of the hottest days of the year so far. Take *** look at these mid afternoon temperatures in the nineties area wide columbus today made it to 100 degrees here in Jackson. We made up to about 97 99 last hour at Meridian, they’re down to 98 right now. So very hot and very humid. We also have *** weak cool front that is now moving into the northern part of the state and that is sparking off showers and thunderstorms and we are under *** severe thunderstorm watch for areas along and north of I 20 because as the front does move into this very hot and humid air mass, the thunderstorms that do develop this evening could be on the strong to severe side. But there’s *** look at the radar in motion and the storms are slowly dropping down to the south. And you see *** couple of severe thunderstorm warnings uh near the Tupelo and columbus area. Then we have another thunderstorm right now coming in north of Greenville and this will continue moving to the south through the evening. I do think as we head into the overnight hours, we lose the daytime heating overall, the storms will begin to weaken as they move through central Mississippi. But until about 10 o’clock, I do think the storms will pack *** punch. But *** lot of lightning with these thunderstorms, look at all the lightning strikes stretching from Mississippi over into parts of Alabama. Right now we’re 94. But look at that real feel number 109 with our humidity at 58% *** very hot and very humid air mass, there is *** little bit of relief in the forecast though, but not *** lot. We’re gonna be going from unseasonably hot conditions to seasonably hot conditions. So right now, temperatures range from 98 at fayette and Port Gibson to 94 here in the Metro 93 McGee 92 for walleye and bass field manufacture in the humidity. And these are the real feel numbers right now feels like 1 14 at Bell zona. There was like 1 10 for Kasey esco, 1 13 for Carthage 1 12 ports Gibson 1 10 for fayette. This is dangerous heat folks. And that’s why there was *** red alert day today because of the very hot and very humid air mass. And there’s the front now moving into north Mississippi the thunderstorms ahead of it. It’s been *** stormy day along the uh beaches of florida and Alabama and more thunderstorms continue across those areas. This evening temperatures back to the west, even hotter low, one hundred’s 10 to Shreveport right now. 100 for Dallas and for Houston. So here’s the future cast through the evening. Again, the storms will move into our area through the evening into the overnight hours and then as we head into tomorrow, the front will be along the I 20 corridor and temperatures still going to be in the nineties but the humidity maybe *** tad bit lower and in the heat of the day, there could be more of these pop up thunderstorms developing primarily south of I 20 tomorrow. Most areas are gonna be back up into the nineties for high temperatures. And as we head into your sunday evening, couple leftover storms could be hanging around our southern counties tomorrow. High of 92 here in Jackson. And if you’re south of I 20 that humidity maybe *** little bit on the higher side. And your real full number, maybe again over 100 up to one oh five next week. As we head through the only part of the week, *** little upper level low is gonna be moving up along the gulf coast. That’s gonna bring moisture back up into the region. And that means showers and thunderstorms in the forecast for next week. The good news with that is it will keep those afternoon high temperatures in check in the upper eighties to low nineties. So kind of the battle of the air masses temporarily. We have *** little more pleasant air that tries to move in tomorrow and on monday, keeping that real oppressive air right along the gulf coast. But you see how that quickly moves back up as that little upper level low moves up over the gulf coast. And that’s going to really bring in that deep tropical moisture. And then we’ll have another front that tries to make *** run at the region mid next week. So all this, working in tandem to keep those rain chances on the higher side and you see the overall trend, Those real film numbers instead of being up here near 1 10, slowly falling back down into the dangerous and the cautious category. You see that Wednesday and thursday, there’s real film numbers only near 100 degrees. Not too bad for this time of the year. Scattered storms tonight. Some of the storms could be gusty 75, your overnight low tomorrow sun and clouds. And again, there could be *** few afternoon thunderstorms, primarily south of I 20. And there’s your seven day forecast better on the temperature side of things next week, *** little bit below average for this time of the year. With those increased storm chances in the afternoon high temperatures ranging from the upper eighties to low nineties mm.
