Slim Jxmmi of the hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd shared the challenging journey he and his brother Swae Lee faced before their rise to fame. Despite performing well and garnering label meetings, they faced early rejections from major labels like Def Jam and Sony. Undeterred, they relocated from Mississippi to Atlanta to pursue their music dreams, even though they were almost penniless. Slim Jxmmi revealed a period of homelessness, where he worked at Kroger and lived in a tent in their parking lot. To maintain appearances, he’d spend time at Walmart before returning to his tent. Despite these hardships, he continued performing at local events. Eventually, he moved back to Mississippi, working at a mattress factory while Swae worked in fast food. Even contemplating joining the Army, Slim Jxmmi ultimately stayed committed to music, leading to Rae Sremmurd’s eventual success.
