Luckily, plenty of brick-and-mortar retailers offer “Buy Online Pick Up in Store” (aka BOPIS or BOPUS) programs, which allow you to shop online and then pick up for free in the store, often only a few hours later. In some cases, you can even get curbside service – great for when you’re rushing around during your lunch break or have a sleeping baby in the car! On the savings side, you’ll get to avoid the $10 or so in fees that you’d normally incur using same-day delivery services and apps like Doordash, Postmates, UberEats and Instacart.
Check out the retailers below that currently offer in-store pickup — either same day or after the item is shipped to store. Just be sure to select the “pick up in store” option at checkout! See which stores are offering discounts on their pickup services this holiday season.
Shopping at Amazon? Just because you’re shopping at a predominately online retailer doesn’t mean you can’t pick up your packages in person. Here are all the ways to pick up an Amazon order in person (even if not the same day).
Stores That Offer In-Store Pickup and Curbside Service for Everything
Target
Pickup options:

It’s a tale as old as time: You go into Target for one thing and emerge with 20. Take a more focused approach to your Target run by ordering online and picking up in-store. (Just steer clear of the dollar spot on your way to customer service.)
To see if an item is eligible for order pickup, look for “free ship to store” or “free order pickup” when adding items to your cart. You can also shop from a list of pickup-eligible items by browsing any category and selecting “buy online & pick up” from the “shipping & pickup” drop-down. If the price is lower in the store, you will automatically receive the lower price.
Target also offers a Drive-Up option for orders placed through the Target app; a Target employee will bring your items directly to your car for free. And, now, you can include a Starbucks drink in your Target pickup order!
Additional consideration: Target is now offering an expanded fresh and frozen grocery assortment through Drive Up and Store pick-up options in over 1,500 stores.
Walmart

Walmart offers many items that can be picked up same-day or shipped for free to your nearest Walmart, which is super-convenient if there’s something online that isn’t available at your local store. Note that some stores have only curbside pickup, while others have both curbside and inside-the-store pickup options.
Tons of items are available for Walmart pickup, from groceries, to electronics, to clothing.
Just shop your local Walmart online or in their mobile app and filter by “Pickup” to see which items are eligible.
You will receive an email notification when your order is ready for pickup. Simply go to the designated store pickup area (if your store still has one) to collect your items. For curbside pickup (much more common these days), park in the reserved parking and notify the store that you are there, and an associate will load the groceries into your vehicle.
Additional considerations: If you’re placing an order for perishable groceries, you’ll need to make sure your order is over $35, to be eligible for free curbside pickup.
Stores That Offer In-Store Pickup and Curbside Service for Groceries
Wegmans
Pickup Options:

You can shop for groceries on the Wegmans website or app. If you’re shopping on the website, click on the “list” icon at the top right corner of the screen and then choose either “in-store pickup” or “curbside delivery” to place your order.
If you want to use the app, click on the shopping method near the home icon, and select “in store pickup” or “curbside delivery.” Then start adding items to your cart. You will be notified once your order is ready, so you can head to the store to pick up your items.
Additional consideration: If you choose to order groceries online, prices will be 15% above in-store prices; this includes the cost of shopping for your order. Alcohol is only available for curbside pickup in New Jersey, Massachusetts, Virginia and North Carolina. Beer is available in New York locations.
Whole Foods Market

Online orders can be placed using amazon.com/wholefoods or through the Whole Foods tab in the Amazon mobile app. Next, enter your ZIP code, add your desired item to the cart, and select “change to pickup” or “change to curbside pickup.”
Once you place your order, be sure to wait and check in with your confirmation email. When arriving at the store, follow the instructions to the reserved parking, and an associate will bring out your order unless you choose in-store pickup.
Additional consideration: Online ordering is only for Amazon Prime members. Sign up for the membership here; it costs $119 per year (or $12.99 monthly).
Kroger

Kroger is a huge grocery store, which often leads to many customers spending more than an hour in the store admiring its endless selection of items and great deals. Luckily, you can save yourself time and money by ordering your groceries online or via the Kroger mobile app. When shopping, select a preferred pickup method and then choose a day and time for your order.
You will receive an email notification letting you know when to head to the store to pick up your order. If you opted for FREE pickup, it’s best to use the Kroger app to notify the store when you are 15 minutes away to ensure faster delivery. Upon arriving at the store, pull into one of the specially marked parking spots, and an associate will bring out your groceries.
Additional consideration: FREE pickup is free on orders above $35. Meats and produce items are available for pickup orders.
Sprouts Farmers Market

Sprouts Farmers Market announced last year that they were partnering up with Instacart to offer in-store pickup. To begin your order with Sprouts Farmer Market, you need to log in or sign up for a Sprouts account online at shop.sprouts.com/login.
After signing in to your account, you can create a shopping list by clicking on the Department tab and start adding items to your list. After you finish shopping, click on the shopping list icon, then the basket icon to choose the online order option, and click on pickup or curbside pickup.
Once you receive a notification that your order is ready for pickup, you can either go in the store to get your items or wait for an Instacart shopper to bring them to your car.
Additional consideration: Your first order for curbside pickup at Sprouts Farmers Market over $35 is free. Future curbside orders will have a fee. Pickup fees are $1.99 for orders above $35 and $3.99 for orders under $35. Note, if you order alcohol with your order, make sure to bring your ID with you.
Restaurants That Offer Pickup and Curbside Service
Chili’s

In the mood to grab a quick bite to eat but don’t feel like waiting at the restaurant? You can place your order on Chili’s mobile app or their official website by clicking on the “order now” tab. Next, choose your local Chili’s restaurant to begin your order.
When your order is ready for pick up, you will receive an email and text message notifying you that your order is ready. Once arriving at the restaurant, you can either go inside to pick up your order from the pickup area or pull into a curbside delivery parking spot. Then you’ll have to notify the restaurant that you are there by texting the restaurant or tapping “I’m here” in the mobile app, and an associate will bring out your food.
Shake Shack

Are you craving a burger and chicken sandwich? Place an order for both using the Shake Shack website by clicking on “order now,” or on the mobile app by clicking on “pickup.”
Shake Shack will text you when your food is done. If you opted for in-store pickup, go to the pickup counter to receive your food. If you choose curbside pickup, follow the in-app instructions, park your vehicle and an associate will bring your order out to you.
Chick-Fil-A

Are you craving a delicious chicken sandwich? Chick-Fil-A is the way to go. You can place an online order on the Chick-Fil-A website or using the Chick-Fil-A one mobile app. Before starting your order, you are asked how you would like to receive your online/mobile order. You can choose carry-out, drive-thru or curbside.
Depending on which option you choose, pickup instructions vary. Carry-out orders require you to go inside of Chick-Fil-A and pick up your order from the mobile order area. For Drive-thru, get in the drive-thru line and let the employee know that you have a mobile order. Curbside orders require you to park in a designated spot and have an employee bring your order to you.
Additional consideration: Chick-Fil-A is not open on Sundays.
The Cheesecake Factory

The Cheesecake Factory makes it easy to secure your next slice of cheesecake when you have a sweet tooth. They offer free store pick-up and curbside delivery on all flavors of its delicious desserts (or anything else on its extensive menu). You can place your orders for The Cheesecake Factory online or by calling.
Be sure to specify which pickup method you prefer, in-store pickup or curbside delivery. You will receive a notification when your order is ready for pick up, so you can head to the restaurant. If you choose store pickup, you can get your order from their designated take-out area. For those who place curbside orders, you will park in the curbside parking and wait for an associate to bring out your order.
Panera Bread

Not feeling like yourself and need some chicken soup? Place your order online on the Panera Bread website or in the mobile app by choosing “rapid pick up,” then select your preferred pick up option. Curbside orders will require you to insert vehicle details in special instructions to complete delivery.
If you opted for in-store pickup, grab your order from the to-go cubicle inside the restaurant. For curbside orders, after arriving at the restaurant, tap on “I’m here” in the mobile app, and a store employee will bring your food to you.
Stores That Offer In-Store Pickup and Curbside Service for Books and Tech
Apple

When an item is available at your local Apple store, you can order it online and choose to pick it up in-store, often within an hour. In some instances, you may also be able to select a window of time to go to an Apple Store to pick up your order to avoid waiting. And with Apple’s free personal setup service, you can walk out with a fully setup and functioning product. For curbside orders, just park in a designated spot, notify Apple that you are there, and an associate will bring out your order.
They also have fast and free delivery on any in-stock iPhone products and free two-day delivery on almost everything else. Faster options are available for a fee. Plus, they offer two-hour delivery in most metro regions for a small $9 courier fee. You can select this option at checkout if it’s available.
Apple has started to reopen retail stores (see if yours is open) and you can even reserve your shopping session in advance. As always, you can still shop for items online and get fast, free delivery.
Best Buy

Best Buy lets you order and pick up your order in-store in as little as an hour for select products. Bring your ID, credit card and order number to the store and pick up your items. They’ll hold them for up to five days. Avoid shipping fees and ensure that your brand-new 50-inch TV isn’t waiting outside your home while you’re at work all day.
Pickup orders are still being accepted at most locations through contactless Curbside Pickup, where an employee will bring your items to your car. You can also order online and get your purchases delivered right to your doorstep.
Barnes and Noble

Are you ready to start reading a new book but don’t feel like walking around Barnes and Noble? Well, place an order online and choose to pick it up or have it delivered to your car. After placing your order, wait for your “ready to pick up” email” and head on over to your local Barnes and Noble and grab your books. Curbside orders work the same way except you don’t have to leave your car. All you have to do is call B&N when you arrive, give them your order information and someone will direct you where to pick up your items. The great thing is there are no shipping fees.

Bed Bath & Beyond

Buy all the bedding you desire with Bed Bath & Beyond in-store pickup and contactless curbside service. You select the items you want to purchase online and enter your credit card info to reserve them. They then send you an email to confirm the reservation. When you arrive at the store, show the confirmation email and an associate will hand over your items.
If you chose contactless curbside, head over to the store when you receive a text saying your items are ready. Then tap on “I’m here” in your email or mobile app, open your trunk and someone will bring your items out. They will hold your items for up to three days. Don’t forget to apply one of those ubiquitous 20% off coupons!
Though you can still shop online and get free shipping on orders with a minimum spend, pickup options are a great alternative to save on shipping fees and get your items faster.
Additional consideration: Contactless curbside pickup is only available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Container Store

You can still shop online and get free shipping on eligible orders that meet the order minimum, or opt for Kohl’s self pickup inside the store or “pop your trunk” curbside (availability varies by store so check with your location).
Macy’s

Macy’s makes it super easy to get the clothing, toys and electronics you love fast and easy. They offer free in-store pickup on most items in just two hours if your order is placed before 6 p.m. Wait for your email, then head on over.
Certain locations are offering contactless curbside pickup. You can still order online (although some deliveries may be delayed) and get free shipping on orders over $25.
Men’s Wearhouse

Last year nationwide, Men’s Wearhouse began letting customers order online and head to their nearest store location to pick up their purchases. You can choose from curbside or in-store pickup options. Pickup will generally be ready within two hours for same-day if placed four hours before the store closes. If placed after the four-hour window, pickup will be available the next day. Items can only be picked up from one store (if an item is not available in your most recently selected store, it will be shipped to you instead).
If you don’t pick up within theseven-day pickup timeframe, you will need to call the store to return your order and receive a refund.

Nordstrom

Many love Nordstrom for its customer service, and the service with in-store pickup is no exception. You can even mix and match the way you buy, so if you have items you want to pick up ASAP (like that elegant blazer to wear on your upcoming job interview), plus items you want to have shipped to you and purchases you want to send to someone else, you can do it all in one order. If you’re a Nordy member, you can check in on the app and when you arrive at the store, an associate will bring your order out to you. You can still shop online, and get free shipping and free returns. Nordstrom also has contactless curbside pickup with free gift wrapping, as well as curbside returns.

Tiffany & Co.

Browse to your heart’s content, and then pick up select items at one of three Tiffany & Co. stores in New York City. Any items available for in-store pick up will feature the message, “PICKUP AVAILABLE AT WALL ST,” “PICKUP AVAILABLE AT SOHO STORE,” or “PICKUP AVAILABLE AT 57th Street” on the item page. Once you choose the store you would like to pick up your items from, proceed to check out. You will then need to wait until you receive an in-store pickup notification before heading to the store to pick up your order.
Local customers can place an order with their Tiffany store via phone. The store teams will confirm product availability, process payment and notify you when items are ready for pickup.
Urban Outfitters

More and more Urban Outfitters locations are offering in-store pickup nationwide. Just select the “In-Store Pickup” option on the product page. Zumiez

Zumiez makes it easy to pick up new looks in store for free — just choose “store pickup” when checking out or use the “GET IT NOW” filter while you shop to see what’s available near you. You can also choose to just reserve your items and pay in cash when you get to the store. Orders placed before or after store hours will usually be available for pick-up the next business day.
Some stores offer both in-store shopping and curbside options, but be sure to call your store to figure out how and when you can pick up your items. You can still shop online with free shipping on orders over $39.95 and extended returns.

Academy Sports + Outdoors

Thousands of items are also eligible for in-store pickup – just select the “Store Pick Up” filter to sort by eligible products available near you.
Dollar Tree

Fill up your online cart with $1 goodies, ship the order to your local Dollar Tree store for free and then four to six days later it’ll be waiting for you! You’ll get an email notification when your order is ready for pickup. Present the manager with your email confirmation and photo ID, and they will process your order through the “In-Store Pickup” lane. If your order is large and you need assistance, ask the store manager for help.
Dollar Tree also offers UPS delivery to your home or business, or you can choose free in-store pickup at your local store.
JoAnn

Office Depot

If you order within two hours of closing time, the products will be ready for you the following day (hopefully before homeroom!). They’ll send you an email when your order is ready, so order that shiny new bike and pick it up for free.
Curbside Pickup is now available at most REI locations, too. Check your local store page for availability and hours with the Store Finder.
Staples

Reserve online at the Staples website, choose the “pick up today” option and head over to the store, where your items will be waiting for you with customer service in one hour or less. Curbside orders will be delivered to your vehicle once you arrive and notify the store that you are parked in the parking lot. If your item isn’t available for immediate pickup, Staples will ship it to the store for free.
