TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa’s newest specialty coffee shop, Strange Brew Coffeehouse, will host an official grand opening on Jan. 28 at 6 a.m.

Founded in Starkville, Mississippi by Shane and Katelyn Reed, Strange Brew has built a popular reputation by providing fresh coffee prepared in small batches and roasted in Mississippi.

“Ever since I graduated from the University of Alabama it has been a decade-long dream for us to open a Tuscaloosa location,” Katelyn Reed said. “We are so excited to support theTide and share our coffee, baked goods, and love with Tuscaloosa and Northport.”

The Strange Brew brand specializes in lattes, espresso drinks, crafted Frappes and teas,
lemonades, and baked goods.

One of its popular originals is the Sea Turtle latte — a latte with the customer’s choice of milk with chocolate sauce, caramel and sea salt, that is available hot, iced, or frozen.

The Tuscaloosa location marks the fourth Strange Brew and the first for Alabama. The other three locations are in Starkville and Tupelo, Mississippi.
