From global politics to dating to movies, countless memes are made every day to capture even the most fleeting of moments, like the recent departure of Spiderman from the Marvel Universe. The importance of meme culture to hip-hop culture is no less, with many of the culture’s most prominent personalities becoming foundational memes one way or another over the years.

Popular rappers can’t really choose to not become memes either: they’re just too popular.
