16 WAPT’s Christana Kay Meteorologist has the latest forecast for Jackson and Central Mississippi.

happy Tuesday everybody, we started off this morning warm and muggy once again back into the mid to upper seventies with real field values over towards the river and spots earlier this morning feeling like 80 degrees before the sun even rose. Now we’re starting to see *** nice view on all of our sky cams around seven o’clock this morning but it just is not going to feel comfortable whatsoever today. Feels like temperatures are already getting into the triple digits by lunchtime highs today reaching around 93 in the metro with rain chances picking on up as we head into the later parts of the afternoon and evening hours, here’s what those real field guys look like across the region 103 and Raleigh basket and mccomb 106 in Jackson up to 1 10 possible over towards Vicksburg, Yazoo City and Belzoni today *** heat advisory in effect through thursday evening. This is because wake up temperatures are expected to bottom out in the mid seventies and then high is getting into the mid nineties but feels like temperatures up to 110 degrees. Now, those areas shaded and yellow could possibly be bumped up to that heat advisory by the end of the week. Right now, again, expecting those real advice to be up to around 105 that could possibly escalate to 1 10 by friday and possibly even into saturday rain chances are really going to help the heat today, but it’s going to be our western counties that will be less likely to see the chance for showers and thunderstorms will kick things off back off to our eastern counties and then that will spread through the afternoon and the evening hours. Again, the best chance of shower and thunderstorm activity is going to be consolidated east of I 55 with the stray possible downpour off to our western counties late this evening and then as we head closer to the sunset hour, once the sun sets, the rain chance really diminishes as we go into the overnight hours, mostly cloudy skies to kick off. Tomorrow morning temperatures back into the mid seventies. Real filled eyes return to the triple digits. Tomorrow same areas apply when it comes to feeling like 110 degrees in the afternoon. This dangerous heat continues through the end of the week because of that high pressure, not expecting to break down any time soon, rain, chances stay off to our east feels like temperatures escalate into the triple digits for the next several days and even into possibly next week. So once again, you really need to consider what those symptoms are for heat exhaustion and heat stroke. I know *** lot of people don’t like sweating in this heat with high humidity. It makes it harder for sweat to evaporate off of your skin. If you notice you’re not sweating, it’s already too late. You are suffering those symptoms of heat stroke. You need to call medical attention immediately. You don’t want to be that heat hero. If you’re starting to get those symptoms of heat exhaustion, whether it’s excessive sweating, cool pale clammy skin or muscle cramps even you need to go ahead and go inside, put *** cool towel around your neck or maybe *** cool compress on your forehead. But don’t be that heat hero. If you see these symptoms and you continue to push and then all of *** sudden you have no sweating, red hot dry skin, you’re already suffering those symptoms of heat stroke. So you do need to be on the side of caution this week, especially if you work outside during the heat of the day. You need to be taking those frequent breaks, rain chances not very likely thursday through parts of the weekend. However, sunday we could see *** little bit of an uptick in afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Even then we continue that hot, hazy and humid pattern. Mm
