After a Lyft ride to the vet turned into an unexpected 34-hour adventure, a tuxedo cat named Tux is safe at home and is back to being a curious kitty. Palash Pandey, who is from Austin, Texas, told KEYE’s Bettie Cross that he hailed a Lyft Saturday to take his cat, Tux, to a vet appointment. When Pandey got out of the vehicle to make his way around to the other side of the car to unload Tux’s cat carrier, the Lyft operator allegedly drove off with the animal still in the vehicle. “Just walking from one door to the other and just doing that he started peeling off,” Pandey said. “I’m running behind him banging on his doors and banging on his windows and he just takes off.” Posters were put up around town, and Lyft put out alerts on its app to help find the feline. The hours passed. Then early Monday morning, investigators, who were hired by Lyft, found Tux around a mile away from the vet clinic where the cat had an appointment a couple of days prior, according to KEYE. Tux was not in her carrier when she was found.While he’s thankful his cat is home, Pandey feels the situation could have been avoided if the driver had either stopped or was quicker to respond to messages.”I tried communicating with him every way possible and he did not respond to me. He only called me back once police called him first,” Pandey said.Pandey said Tux has seen the vet since the ordeal took place. “She’s doing really well. No issues at all. She just had some fleas because she was outside They gave like an ointment for that but other than that she’s healthy. She’s fine,” Pandey said of Tux.Lyft told KEYE it is investigating the incident and that it will pay for Tux’s vet bill. See more in the video player above
