Unique had a big, bright personality, full of love and laughter. She was a young girl that always was a smile on her face and told jokes almost 24/7. Unique was also a big sister. She had younger siblings that looked up to her.
#Shamaya Anderson is another 15-year-old girl from Jackson, Mississippi. Shamaya was described as friendly, outgoing, and a vibrant eighth grader. She was the student everyone loved to be around. Shamaya was very athletic and participated as a middle school basketball team member. The young, vibrant girl enjoyed school, sports, and family time.

Story Details:
On December 31, 2022, Columbus Division of Police officers was called around 3:40 p.m. on a report of a deceased girl. When officers arrived, they found 15-year-old Unique Prater suffering from a wound alone on the ground. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Currently, there are no leads or suspects in Unique’s case. At this time, an investigation is underway, and anyone with information is asked to call the Columbus police.
On a Wednesday night in South Jackson, another teenage girl was found at the intersection. Jackson police responded to complaints shortly before six o’clock in the evening and located a body near the crossroads. According to Hinds County Coroner, the victim was later identified as Samaya Anderson, 15. Witnesses said they heard over a dozen rounds. Samaya’s mother says she believes her daughter became a target after an altercation between a group of people. According to Mrs. Anderson, she has not heard from JPD or a detective since the shooting but has a strong idea of who killed her loved one.
